About Us

We happen to be one of those modern couples that met on eHarmony in September 2013. After emailing for a week and then talking on the phone for a week, we decided to meet in person at a local coffee shop. Bethanie’s mom calls it the longest first date ever because we met at 3:00 for coffee then walked an entire path several miles long then went for dinner and then said goodbye at 9:30. Six and a half hours long, not too shabby. We love to celebrate this anniversary more than any other because if we hadn’t met, we wouldn’t have married. So each September we try to head back to that coffee shop and walk that path. When we met we were both teachers. Dan taught chemistry and Bethanie was a special education teacher, both at the high school level at different schools. Several years and babies later, Bethanie is a stay-at-home mom and Dan is a woodworker. Check out episode two of our podcast for more of that story. As a woodworker and husband, Dan truly enjoys working with his hands and solving everyday problems with creative and efficient solutions. He also greatly enjoys mowing the yard and wishes he had more time for mountain biking. Dan serves on the Men's Ministry and Prayer Ministry leadership teams at our church and is a member of the Prophetic Company at The Bridge. As a stay-at-home mom and wife, Bethanie loves cooking paleo recipes she finds online and making up new soups during the winter. Of course, that’s when she has time. She leads the Mom Group at our church and homeschools our girls at the 2nd, K, and preschool levels while bouncing our toddler on her lap. One summer, while looking for a special summer unit to study, Bethanie couldn't find the girls' topic of choice: UNICORNS! Thusly, she started writing her own unit, and Woodworker + Wife Homeschool was started.
